About This Historical Society
The Historical Academy (Association) for Joan of Arc Studies is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization instituted for the purpose of conducting, publishing, and encouraging valid scholarship on Joan of Arc and related historical topics.
The organization was incorporated as a non-profit on 28 April 2005 (Charter Number: 1334426-4) and organized as an historical society with the following goals, as stated in the following passage from the Articles of Incorporation, Article II:
This corporation is organized exclusively for educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code... To this end, the corporation shall engage in: 1) the conduct and publication of original research on historical topics related to Joan of Arc and her time period; 2) the encouragement of legitimate research in the field by outside authors and the evaluation of all such works on the subject; 3) the provision of educational services and materials; 4) the support of historical preservation projects or similar efforts; and 5) any activities deemed necessary for the funding or more effective realization of the aforesaid activities or the furtherance of the organization's stated mission.
Current activities include publications (to be disseminated in both print and electronic formats) and online databases. Some of the proceeds from the publications will help provide funding for the protection of Joan of Arc's baptismal church at Domrémy-la-Pucelle.
